December

Dear friend,

The very last month of 2012. How swiftly this year has passed, and how full it has been. Painting these calendars each month has been delightful and fun. I can't believe this is the last one! I am already planning the set I'll make for next year. They'll go in a little different direction...I think there will be lots of color. My heart tells me 2013 will be a colorful year for us.

I'm going to take a little break from this blog for the next two weeks while I focus steadily on finishing my holiday house portrait orders. The ones that are intended as gifts have to be shipped out by the 14th, and there is lots of work to be done! Working this intently is exhausting but peculiarly peaceful. This whole season can be very gentle in pockets...quiet homes, early mornings, golden-lit trees, shearling slippers. Candles burning in black nights.

I hope you will find gentleness this month in tucked-away places, amidst all the hullaballoo. Be back in a couple of weeks!

(Download calendar here).

Love,

Rebekka

Good luck with all your houses…I’d say being able to relax and take time out after they are all finished will be so amazing!

Random question but is that an R up there for Thursday? Or am I seeing things?! For a second I got so confused about the days of the week!

I just started following your blog a few weeks back ... what a lovely gift each month. Thank you!

Enjoy your peaceful moments over the next few weeks, and let me just say: I love a gal who uses the word "hullaballoo."

I never tire of the way you describe things, Rebekka. Good luck with your deadlines. There will be a lot of happy people opening house portraits this Christmas, I'm sure.

Clio...yes, that is an "R" for Thursday, haha :) I get a question about that almost every month! I grew up seeing "R's" for Thursdays on calendars, but apparently not everybody did! :)

I'm so glad you'll be continuing the calendars in 2013! It's been nice having something new every month instead of the same background for years at a time ;).

My first thought, as I read over your words on this year and the next, was how I am praying for your little one's arrival in this next set of months called 2013.

It has been fun and beautiful to keep up with you on here and on instagram. You are inspiring and calming, and what a blessing of a personality to have.

Best,
Michele
